Squat For A Better Booty - And More!

What do you think is the best single exercise that you can do to improve your overall health throughout your lifetime? If you said squats, you are right! If I were stuck on a desert island and could only choose one workout for the rest of my life, this would definitely be the one! Why? Because it has so many positive effects on your body: it works your legs, buttocks, and abs, it burns fat, and improves flexibility too.

If that is not enough reason for you to start squatting more regularly, here are some more reasons:

Strengthens the lower body

Squats are by far the most important exercise for toning the legs and butt. Do squats regularly if you’d like to have a firm round butt. The main muscles targeted are the quads and glutes. The great thing about squats is that you can focus on different muscle groups by changing your stance and form a little bit. Whatever you do, make sure to balance on the balls of your feet and focus all of your energy on your legs and rear end. Your back should be straight at all times or you could injure it.

Increased flexibility and fewer injuries

Your knees are very prone to injuries due to the constant strain they are put through on a daily basis. Thankfully, regular squats will strengthen the knee muscles by providing a constant stream of blood and oxygen to the muscles there. Be careful to lift correctly, however, as improper squats could lead to knee injuries.

Improves Core Strength

Because squats require good balance and form, they give your core muscles a great workout. Having stronger core muscles promotes good posture and reduces back pain in the long run.  In order to balance yourself while doing squats, you must flex your abs and the muscles in your back. This has two positive affects: a stronger back and a flatter stomach.

Burns fat

The great thing about squats is that they require you to use so many different muscles than just the legs. Because squats are such a difficult exercise to perform, doing them increases your heart rate and makes you sweat. This will help you lose fat over time.

Convinced?

When you first start doing squats, use just your body weight. After you become more confident and comfortable doing them, start incrementally adding more weights using either dumbbells or a barbell. This amazing exercise has so many different benefits for your entire body; you really should start doing it regularly.
